OK Some of you may remember my admission if a dark and macabre crime:
http://www.theanswerb.../Question1110327.html
Where I rival the great despots of history for pure evil. Anyway I was up before those lovely people on my local bench this week. Reffering of course to predictions and perhaps even opinions of what should be the penalty for the most heinous of crimes, who would like to guess what actual punishment their worships dolled out? I would offer a prize for the first correct answer but there appears to be no mechanism for it here so I will offer my sincere congratulations to the winner. A clue, costs where £50.

Paedophiles - injure/maim/kill innocent children as a result of lust for unnatural sex.

Speedophiles - injure/maim/kill far greater numbers of innocent children as a result of lust for unnatural speed.

They deserve equal vilification.

no corbyloon but that will never happen because I'm a safe driver who has never crashed and never even claimed off insurance. I may trangress an arbitrary set of 90 year old rules occasionally but I am far safer that many idiots on the road who obey the highway code.
Are you going to tell us or not?
Just because you've never crashed doesn't make you safe.

The problem is that you expect everone will be as good a driver as you - but there are people on the road who have just passed their test or aren't as good as they should be.

One day one may pull out on you and someone might get killed

You'll sit there and say - it was their fault

and you'll be right

But they'll still be dead

and if the impact was slower they'd be alive

That's why we have speed limits to lessen the results of serious accidents

Whether you're a good driver is not the point - you don't seem to understand this
d9f1c7 ... What a load of bull you spout..YOU ARE NOT A SAFE DRIVER BECAUSE YOU SPEED..
What is more dangerous is you have convinced yourself that you are safe.
I have never crashed.

Therefore I am never going to crash.

Undeniable logic there.
Can AB give out fines for the most boring threads!!

Just another guy who thinks he is the best driver in the world!

Yaaaawn!!

where did I say I was safe because I speed keithlbw? Good leap of illogic no need to get hysterical. The speeding in question was on a dual carraigway far from pedestrians etc. The limit was 50 but really it is 70 the 50 is one of many revenue collection devices.

I got 5 points £200.

Perhaps ratter so boring is your existance that this thread seems to attract you.
So you got off light then?
I said 6 points, £500 fine.
d9f1c7, what do you think the limit should be?
Question Author
it's about right, the thing is that in court the severity can be guaged without a pure slavery to the figures. The fact is that the road is a 70mph road so 89 in that would normally get a fixed penalty. The Magistrates obviously had to consider that it was labelled a 50 but fortunately they had the intellegence to determine the true severity. For example going 40 past a school in a 20 is far far worse than what I did. The motoring evangelists need to consider the curcumstances rather than a blind black and white devotion to the figures.
Question Author
the above reply was to brenda.

TCL the limit on what are currently 70mph should be 80. But this is really about innexplicable 50/40 limits on what is normally 70 for revenue gathering purposes. The limits in towns are mostly fine as they are.
I got 5 points £200.

Riveting .......

Question Author
So glad I'm entertaining you mick!
The word 'macabre' as used by yourself is defined as disturbing and horrifying because concerned with death or injury your discription not mine, so if that's the case a custodial sentence would be in order.
No problem.....did you spot the deliberate mistake?
Question Author
