A neighbour is a mechanic and has offered to replace both front discs and pads (they are in desperate need) however does 80 sound correct for this job?

It depends on what make car you have.  Some cars you can get both discs and pads for as little as 30 - 40, but on other cars you could spend 100s.

Then there is the labour of fitting them.  Some are really easy to fit but some you have to remove a hub which can be a real pain.  Some discs come with a paint over it as well and that has to be sanded off, again, time consuming.

if that includes parts i think that is very good. again yes it depends on the make, but if something is wrong it can be awkward when it's a neighbour!!
It certainly doesn't sound too expensive, the bits are likely to come to about 60 at least.
just had quote for 406@ 150 so 80 seems ok
