rover parts

can anyone give a correct answer to my question --everybody i speak to now says they will be giving rovers away at knock down prices now --not just because of warranty problems but with future supplies of spare parts.i said there will be a decent parts outlet for several years yet--am i wrong---

Well they are not making the part's anymore so only parts that are made by other suppliers have a chance of being made. The existing Rover parts would dry up quickly. There may be pattern part makers who deem it worth making the more common parts but I think the point is that there will be a lot of uncertainty and thus potential hassle.

Quinten Wilson answered this question in a newspaper recently.

Even the old 70's MG's still have makers for spare parts, down to the last nut and bolt.

Sure Halfords will cotton on to the idea of the pattern part, they have done before.

Most service parts are compatible with other makes of car so they will continue.  Specialist parts may become more difficult to obtain, such as internal dashboard electrics, window motors, engine components etc. (many different types of engine/variants so older types may not be replaced but newer ones may).  When I worked at a Rover garage UNIPART was the Rover authorised main parts supplier.
