I am thinking about hiring a seventeen seater minibus for a family holiday in the summer - I was wondering if anyone knows roughly how many miles I could expect to the gallon of diesel. Anyone any ideas please?

According to how you drive, you should get 25 - 30 mpg with diesel, 20 - 25 with petrol (but don't blame me if you run out of fuel!!)

Thanks for that.
Of course it depends on how many people you're carrying (weight) and whether you're driving in towns/country roads or on motorways.  Is it a hilly area?  All of which could lower your MPG.

There would be seventeen of us - a mix of adults and children, and we would be driving mainly on the motorway.
Make sure you have the correct licence for driving this vehicle...  if you passed your test after 1.1.1997, then you will not, unless you have a PCV licence.

No problem on that front L-Trainer, passed my test in 1980. Thanks for replying anyway.
