i assume you are looking for a small car?
2 drs or 4?
fiesta or focus size?
Peugeot 307s are really good reliable runners and not too high on the insurance, i love mine it's red.
just think of your fave colour & buy the first one you see - easy

hi tali. Would prefer 4 door. Have looked at a couple of Fiat bravas.

its confusing as I know ****** all about cars, and have no one to help me out.

Should I buy private or trade?
Hi Petal. It's a difficult question, because it all depends on what merits you're personally looking at. Are you bothered about colour/style/size? You need someone with you when you go to buy, who knows exactly what to look for. The main considerations must be that it runs well, and has no major faults, so unless you know someone personally who's selling their car, I'd say go to a garage. You can still find places where you won't get ripped off. If it was me, I'd go for a make such as Ford, where spare parts are easily obtained. Will this be your first car? Think of age & insurance, etc. I reckon I'd go for a Mini! x

hiya dot. will have to google that

Need something big enough to fit at least 4 of us in.

Quoi..... thats what I am likely to do lol

hiya ice, I drive a mazda now, but MOT and tax up this week, and its now worth trying to get it through MOT again. Cost me 400 last year.... probably more than car is worth!

I have seen some decent cars for around 1,800. But its knowing which one is going to be best.

I am easily taken in by a tidy interior and nice paintwork!! lol
Be careful with the Fiat Bravas - My son had one & had endless probs with it - my kids like the reliability of VW golfs - you do pay a bit more for them but they seem to be reliable.
Well I went to the vets with Max to get his arthritis treated and when i came out my son saw my car in the garage opposite, My inheritance had just come thru and I was about to start what would have been a really difficult search for a small peugeot automatic ( my dad had always said i should get a little Peugeot) and there was the one, with a big red banner across it's window saying 'AUTOMATIC' , I went home, counted out 3000 went back and bought it, the guy was abit stunned but it was meant for me!
Not the most exciting choice but very reliable -Nissan Almera.
Fiats unwanted and unrelibale in general
Private -riskier - but cheaper
Most car for money is in Mondeo/Vectra class of cars
Insurance as long as you don;t live in inner city area should not be a prob
Awww petal - bless! You and me too, hun. Save up and go for the soft-top Merc! xxx

that car was meant for you dot. My first car was a Citroen 2cv. always wanted one, and when I got it, I was over the moon.

Until I had to drive it with virtually no heat in the winter. And then the chasis went!!! lol

Quoi, I think my budget is really limiting me, if I could pay extra I would, and get something a bit nifty. I liked the look of the fiat Bravas. But thanks for your experiences of them.

tali, I have looked at private and trade. Thanks for your suggestions, am off work tomorrow so will have a look online at auto trader and see what they have.

Ice... if only lol
Lol - insist on it! take out a loan!!!! (joking!) - x
Question Author
not checked my lottery numbers yet Ice!!!

fingers crossed huh lol xx
Absolutely! Then you can have half a dozen of them!! x
Question Author
just checked.

only one number!

another quid wasted......

so what little car should I get then lol
Well - as I say, I like Minis, but it sounds like you're after something a little bigger. Really can't help you Petal, because I'm sure that when you see the "One", you'll know. I'm terrible with cars, and tend to go for the shape and colour - no matter what's under the bonnet!!!
Still - think BIG, think CONFIDENT. Next week's pound might do it for you! Hope so - xx.
We used to have an Honda Accord, 4 door and biggish.

It was a very reliable car, never let us down.

They do a smaller car, a civic which may do you.
You can't go far wrong with a Ford Focus or Fiesta, or a Vauxhall Astra or Corsa.
