It depends on :

your car
How fast you drive
how economical you drive
whether you go up or down hill
are towing
are sat in traffic
are on the motorway

etc etc etc

Personally I'd say as far as the next garage.

all depends on the car... my focus turns on the orange light at 50 miles left, my wifes scenic does it at 40 miles
