The exhaust on my clio has started to blow .
Given that it is not making a racket at the moment ,my question is , will the mpg be affected significantly .
i.e I dont want to have to find the cash to get it replaced , any sooner than I have to ?

Thanks

it will just get bigger and noisier, which could lead to you receiving a fine from the police,as they will stop you if its too loud. its better to get it done asap,as it might be only one part of the exhaust blowing, where as,if you leave it,it could cause problems to other parts of it and then cost a lot more,a clio exhaust, from a local exhaust garage,is not that expensive.
Assuming the blow is after the cat. it will not affect the fuel consumption

Thanks guys

The blow seems to be after the cat where the pipe from the cat joins the next pipe , if you follow me

I forget to ask - the cat outer casing is peeling in several places - is this a sign of the cat going soon ?
it dos'nt sound too healthy if that IS the cat but most cats are surrounded by a heat shield. if its that dont worry
