Original Equipment parts or components are manufactured by a company for use in products manufactured/built/sold by a second company. Typically the OE part has been built to the design of the second company.

In the US automotive industry products can only be called OE if they have been tested and validated according to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
