I cant seem to get the fuel flap cover to release on my 61 plate astra. The car is opened but when i push the flap which is spring loaded it just stays shut.Is there any other way i can get it open without damaging it.The car is booked in on tuesday for service but the fuel warning light has just come on and i wanted to refuel to be on the safe side. Thanks for any replies.

Have a look into the Boot, in the area of the fuel inlet, there should be a little cable there, pull to release.
It hasn't froze up has it ?.
I had an astra on hire a few weeks ago, and I had to stand by the flap, lock the car with the remote, then un-lock it with the remote. the flap then pushed open.
Don't know why it only works like this, the handbook says that as long as the car is unlocked the flap can be opened.
Get someone to pull the flap as you tug the release. That's what worked with my Mondeo.
Have you got a suction cap, perhaps with a sat nav?

Stick it on to give you some purchase on it.
