just watched Fridays episode and was wondering if anybody else spotted a mistake. Gene Hunt mentioned Mr Muscle cleaner and as A2A is 1983-85, I checked on internet and the said Mr Muscle wasn't produced till 1986. Does anybody else have any thoughts on this TIA bestmum

its just one of many "goofs" that have appeared in Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes....its usually explained as maybe its something from 2010 bleeding into the 80s due to Alex being in a coma, or whatever is going on....it probably was just down to an error on the writers part thinking it was produced earlier though
Mr. Muscle first appeared as a brand in the early 70s in the US but it was not marketed in Britain until 1986.

BTW, A2A is 1981-83 (the Blue Peter Garden was vandalised 21st November '83).
So what if the odd mistake creeps in (why do people worry about them, unless they are endemic to the plot), it stillis one of the best progs on the box at the moment. I thought the writers worked in the Blue Peter garden vandalism very well.
I think this series of A2A is a load of old rubbish but I still feel compelled to watch it every week. There's no one anywhere else on telly quite like Gene Hunt.
No one ever mentions the biggest error btw. No British policeman has ever carried a gun and brandished it with quite such relish. But as they are all figments of Alex's imagination I suppose it really doesn't matter that much.
The police cars in the show are Ford Granadas, The Met drove Rovers at that time. The Audi used in the 1981 scenes were introduced into Britain in 1983. But I love the nostalgia and music even with all the mistakes.
