Apologies if this had been mentioned already.

Whilst watching BBC online live news at work with our students we noticed the bulletin 'ticker' with the latest news run along the bottom of the screen with the words

"ex-servicemen have laid reefs at the cenotaph today".

The BBC. Marvellous eh?

the type is automatically changed from verbal to written using a phonetic programme , so the computer programme only picked up the phonetic sound of reef
