There are a limited number of pleasure flights available in a Spitfire over the weekend at Blackpool airport. Soon as i saw the headline my interest was piqued. Then i saw the price range and my interest waned at the speed of lightning.

Bear in mind, you are actually in the air 10 mins less than the time stated due to engine checks & taxiing;

35 mins - 'Coastal scramble' - £2,975

45 mins - 'Buzz the Tower' - £4,475

5 mins - 'North West skies patrol' - £5,475

Think i'll stay at home and wash my hair.

These prices are nothing unusual:

20 years ago (2005 to be exact) a Spitfire was reckoned to cost £3500 per flying hour so you can see how the prices might come about when you factor in manpower and other sundry costs.

I didn't say they were unusual, Bookbinder, i intimated they were expensive. If you took the 'Coastal scramble', it would cost you approx £119 for every minute you are airborne. Not even solicitors charge that much😉

I thought about treating my Dad to one of these. Then I saw the prices and was glad I didn't say anything out loud!
