15 million people died in WW1 (military and civilians) but of course the important thing is did the horse die.
Question Author
i am well aware of the amount of people who died, thanks for clearing that up even though i didnt ask.
unlike the humans, the horses had no choice
I think we're all aware how many humans died. 6 million horses also died in WW1 and none of them were volunteers. I'm with lumination, I wouldn't want to go and watch something in the cinema just to have my heart ripped out. I don't know if it survives sorry.
VHG - The book 'War Horse' is about just that........it's not directly about the men who perished in the trenches.

I'm not sure I ought to tell you the ending, lumination, just make sure that your pockets are stuffed with tissues!!
oh dear.. more outrage on this thread? what is the world coming to?

;o)
To put you out of your misery (pun intended), no.
I didn't know there was a film until I read you post so I googled it and visited the website (www.warhorsemovie.com) I needed a tissue after watching just the trailer!
Question Author
i saw the trailer last night when watching a week with marilyn (which btw i thought was rather good!). so the horse doesnt die? yay! but but but why do i need tissues? i have the know the ending cause then i can prepare myself! Does the guy die?
Because if the horse, a) dies...you'll need a tissue, or b) lives through all the horror and carnage of the war....you'll need a tissue!! :o)
the horse is 107 and living in a retirement home in Bexley...
lumination, there will be no point in going if you want the whole story beforehand!
Question Author
yes there is! lol it makes me feel better
The horse dies but so its death is not in vain is it sent to the dog food factory to feed the army dogs. Then they realise its made of metal anyway so instead of putting it in the tins, they make them from it.
When I was five years old I was on a merry go round.
There was a gunshot nearby. The horses stampeded.
There I was running down the street on a purple wooden horse.
There's always one and in this case it's VHG !!!!
one of the horses dies but the main charecter makes it home to devon with his owner theres a second book in the series, met michael morpogo a few years ago
i am EXACTLY like you lum, i can't see a film unless i know the ending. I am very very soppy and hate crying in public, so it's essential for me to know what happens. I even cry at neighbours sometimes.
The stage play with the horse puppetry was superb.
Its a kids book - so its not as disturbing as it might be. Emotional because people and animals are seperated and involved in war. Excellent on stage but no doubt it will make a fairly cheesy and very slightly predictable film.
