I went with a group of friends (including the estimable gness) to see the NT Live relay of War Horse last night.

A brilliant play, but ruined by desperately poor quality video and occasional sound problems at my cinema.

Did anyone else see it?

Did your cinema have similar problems?

I did think about going but then decided the price they were charging was too high. I am glad I didn't now you have said it was poor quality!

NT Live are denying there was a problem - or at least not a general one.

I'd like some ammunition to fire at either them or my local Odeon ...
Oh no, maclaren.....as Dave says...the picture quality was not good and below other productions I have seen but for £14 it was more than worth it.

Four simultaneous showings at our cinema...which may have contributed to the problem....but hundreds of tearful and emotional people at the end.

No doubt more ticket sales for London too.....I have seen it live twice and would again.

Don't dismiss NTLive...it's wonderful.
Would be nice, Dave...to find out if others had a problem.....my thoughts are that it was the cinema.....x
Dave...on NTLive twitter there are comments about projection problems....I don't twit or whatever it is so I can't access all the comments...can you?

I can - will have a look - thanks

Have had a look - mainly seem to be problems with a total loss of picture for a few minutes at a couple of venues - but that does make me wonder whether the satellite links were not all they should be (weather perhaps?)
I suppose that could be it....hope it doesn't put anyone off going again if it was their first time......it was a stunning show never the less.....I fell in love with the goose........x
Is the show very different from the film? I've only seen the film. Was quite disappointed. I often see people refer to being in tears at the end but the last 20 minutes of the film was the market horse sale and him coming home. All very low key and certainly not tearjerking.

The play is emotional beyond words - even with all the technical hiccups it was still a gripping and heartwringing experience.
Sorry Dave but I disagree
I went to see it live a couple of years ago and found the story trite.
But I would advise anyone to see any of the live streamings
They really are the next best thing
Prudie....I haven't seen the film....but I hear from those who have seen both they are very, very different.

I promise you.....unless you have a heart of stone and are the coldest person ever.....you will love the play.

It's....funny, thought provoking, clever and wonderfully emotional. It has taken the place of Les Mis in my heart........well there's room for two I guess...x
Sounds like you had a great time. Did you actually hear it though gness?
Ric! Can't believe you say trite.....just thinking of the barbed wire scene with the two soldiers....that has to make you weep for what happened alone.....x
Jim...I did....I think our cinema had the volume turned up because a few friends said......Blimey....even Gness must have heard that! See it...everyone should....x
I'm off to see Wicked at some point in June/ July I think with my Mum, maybe will find the chance to see War Horse at some point too...
gness I can believe you because I usually cry buckets at any animal story but War Horse the movie was all so watered down and a bit shallow.
Prudie.....I'm not a crier by a long way....so little makes me cry that I wonder if I'm too hard at times....but...

The barricade scene in Les Mis almost had me calling out...enough now! But there were two scenes in War Horse where the tears flowed...as they did with all the people around me.....including I think a very macho biker boy....☺
Last time I was moved to tears by anything was watching Disney's "Tangled". :O
I saw "The Habit of Art" and "Frankenstein" at my local UCI cinema last last year and they were both technically perfect . But they were not "live" Was what you saw last night actually "live" or recorded ?
