NO just about but NO

The whole point about the relationship is that Rea (rather than Rita) is attracted to Leonard because he woos her, and makes her feel special, a complete antidote to her life as a housewife and mother.

Rea would love to have an adventure, but her inbuilt sense of love, loyalty (and guilt!) means that she cannot betray Ben. ben knows something is not right, but he's unsure what it is - check out the scene where each of them leave home in their respective cars, and turn opposite ways at the end of the road, and then each feel uncomfortable with the song on their car radios, and turn it off. The song is 'You've Lost That Loving Feeling' - no words, just perfect imagery, TV rarely gets better than this.

But no, throughout the whole of the series, Rea never gives in, surely this bitter-sweet story should be repeated an terrestrial TV, and soon.

It was a lovely series.  I know why don't they replace hollyoaks with it, then my life will be complete :o)
It was written in the days when Carla Lane could write. She can't now. And it was shown at a time when people in TV sitcoms didn't sleep together illicitly. How nice it would be to go back to the days when the audience worked something out for itself and shows weren't dumbed down to death - and there was a bit of much-missed 'charm' on telly again.

Andrew Hall. Still working, but sadly without Lyndhurst's success.
