I lost my purse today first time I think this has happened and it was a traumatic feeling when I realised! Had to cancel all cards etc and that was some handling, had a Marks and Spencer card and they were most comforting and great to deal with, other cards took a bit of time as all accents aren't easy to understand! I didn't have any money in it so maybe it might be handed in. What would you do if you found a purse would you try to find the owner, I know I would!

I would hand it in at the police station, I know I would.
However - why don't you join one of these insurance schemes to protect your cards? I belong to CPP, all my cards are registered with them, and if I lose my cards I don't need to ring all the individual card issuers, one call to CPP and it's all done for me. Lots of card companies offer cover but this is the one we...

Hand it into the police,if you havent any owner address or phone number..
Absolutely, I would never keep anything like that. My sympathies, it's happened to me and it made me sick to the stomach worrying about my cards being used.

It's a vile feeling - my purse was stolen from my zipped handbag in Spain last year.
yes my purse was stolen once from local pub. was a nightmare cancelling all my cards then just after police station rang to say someone had handed it in less the money, it had been taken out and discarded. I got CCTV footage and had a word with the boy that took it though ;-) I once gave back about 300 quid I found too.
Happened to me recently! I was so lucky! my purse was handed in to the local poice station, and indeed I would always hand in a purse or wallet if I found one, I know just how devastating it feels when you realise that it's lost!....But I would always have handed it in anyway!.............
there is something where you can register all cards and if you lose them you call a numbr and they do all the cancelling for you. Dont know if I'd trust that though, surely they need passwords etc
I handed a wallet in to the Police station a couple of years ago,had £100 inside and numerous cards. They took my number and a few days later the owner phoned me up to say thanks.
Honesty is the best policy :-)
I left a Louis Vuitton bag in the back of a cab in Toronto with Passport, Cards and about $1,800CN inside. I got it back about 45 minutes later when the cab driver came into the restaurant looking for me.

My friend found an envelope containing £1000, he was tempted to keep it, but handed it in! It turned out that it was part of a bank robbery! he was harrassed by the poice for weeks, and just wished that he hadn't found it!.......
I found some home videos & coat thrown into garden; phoned police & they recorded it but wouldn't take the property. Months later, I saw an advert in local paper for same - returned to owner. T'was an expat visiting home and videos had the last memories of their mother....someone had broken into their car & stolen radio.
4get, they don't need passwords, all you do is register your cards with someone like CPP (see my link) and they take it from there if you lose them.
Whilst walking the dog early one morning in the park, I found someone's purse and brought it home to look to see if there were any contact details in it, there weren't. As I was going out for the day I got Mr Jules to take it to the Police Station for me, the lady was very grateful, she had already cancelled her cards, but I suppose knowing that they hadn't fallen into the 'wrong hands' helped, she bought me a bunch a flowers and a thank you card which was lovely, but I didn't do it for a reward or anything I just hope that if I were to ever be in that situation someone would do the same for me.
I recently lost my wallet and it had 2 credit cards, $100 and gift cards that were mine and some I was giving as gifts. Whoever found it got very lucky. I never heard a word from anyone. :( I have found wallets and contacted people or turned them in and people were very happy.
