I heard somewhere recently that the cartoon series Top Cat was based on the Television Series Bilko, is this true?

It is true. The thinking was the kids who enjoyed the fast-talking wise-cracking TC would appreciate Bilko for the same reasons. Similarly, The Flintsones connected seamlessly with an adult comedy called, I think, 'The Marriage Lines' and involved a similar scenario.

The Flintstones was based on the Honeymooners. The Marriage Lines was a British sitcom with Richard Briars. I'm sure you knew that, though.

 

Top Cat even used the same actor to voice Benny the Ball as played Bilko's Private Doberman.

That's it - The Honeymooners, I knew it was something to do with marriage - thanks for the correction.

No - because there was never a TV show called Bilko. It was called the Phil Silvers Show.
