Have just watched the movie.....really liked it ..much more than a zombie movie I thought....but why were there so few (live) civilians at the army base?

the army men killed them i think! they only want women to breed with or sumethin along them lines so they led them off to kill them. i think you see the bodies when the main charactor is about to be executed. As for there being no women at the base i have no idea... maybe none turned up!
None of the plot really bears up to close examination does it? The movie starts off promisingly, but about half way through it starts to get silly. Here are some of the other mistakes: http://www.moviemistakes.com/film.php?filmid=2850

who remembers the BBC series 'Survivors' by Terry Nation will know that, apart from the infected people, the plot is virtually straight out of a couple of the episodes of that series.
Maybe it was the massive zombie plague that wiped out most of the human race???
