You're probably thinking of the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special. It was only transmitted once and has never been seen again. As far as I'm aware Lucas has effectively buried it. I'm not surprised. I once had the misfortune of seeing a pirate copy. It's probably some of the worst TV I have ever seen - truly painful. Here are some random links for further information:
