Why is it that during heavy rain that the main Sky channels are not affected whereas some of the minor channels are easily disrupted?

It's to do with the band width of the channel. It's normally the smaller the width the more likely it is to be disrupted when there's bad weather. We got over this by taking the LNB off and getting out the old annalogue dish (the big round one) putting the LNB on to it, which is easy and then when it rained or the wind blow or there were storms our channels wern't affected as the dish provides a bigger draw and capture for the signal. Hope that makes sense.

I still have an original Sky dish (large round)circa 1989

So what is an LNB ? I assuming the new smaller Sky dish.

So does the combined dishes maintain better reception in rainy weather or is it just the larger and older dish gives you a wider band width ?
If thats the case I not getting the wider band width with my old dish.

Appreciate your response greatly
