Wonderful acting (especially by Nicole Kidman's nose), beautiful sets and gorgeous lighting and the promise of a clever story. I sniffled my way through the last 20 minutes and was left feeling, well, bleak. Would it be up for all those nominations if it hadn't got three top actresses in it ? And what about the story? I'd watch it again to see if I missed vital clues that linked the three lives together as the reviews seemed to indicate a different relationship between the women than the one I saw, but I don't think I could bear it. Any thoughts?

Well, Nicole played Virginia Woolf who was writing Mrs Dalloway, Julianne played a woman who was reading Mrs Dalloway, and Meryl played a woman who resembled Mrs Dalloway, and was also connected to Julianne via the Ed Harris character. Hope that helps make the connection. Very clever story, especially if you find out a bit about Virginia Woolf's life, and the book Mrs Dalloway.
