At how many frames per second does a film run when projected in a cinema?

35mm film runs at 24 frames per second as standard
24 is correct for the cinema but TV (in UK) works on 25 frames per second and so a 100 minute cinema film only lasts 96 minutes on TV.
In the olden days when films were silent the frame rate used to be 18, as it is the sound that suffers at slower speeds not so much with the picture. Other formats now fallen by the wayside rand at differing speeds including 12 and 16. IMAX runs at 48fps.
