I get scared by the strangest of things. I'm not too bothered about horrors coz they just over the top and make me laugh. But one film that freaks me out is The Gift with Keanu Reeves and the bit with the fiddler by the lake. Fiddlers really freak me out, same as clowns.

Trouble with horrors is I don't think there are many that once you've seen them the initial 'scareyness' lasts. You obviously know the plot etc.so can just laugh about them the second time of watching.

Having said that I still won't say 'Candyman' 5 times in front of a mirror!!!! Good stuff!!

its true, everyone laughs at the possibility of the afore-mentined candyman, but I wouldnt say his name in the mirror!

'Suspiria' is sooo scarey! But I am a wuss anyway!

the changling classic horror film
American Werewolf in London really got me, and I don't know why. Now tend to avoid horror films, went to watch 'Signs' thinking it would be a nice film about communicating with aliens, and got really scared by that too. @
..slasher and monster movies dont really scare me , much prefer films where human nature can be much scarier , "shallow grave is my fave", "the hole" is good also, ...though I must say" Creep" scared the bejeezuz outta me and so did "american warewolf" (but I think that has something to do with the creepiness of the london underground) ...I much prefer british films , but saying that "silence of the lambs" probably is the exception...
The only film that genuinely scared me was The Grudge. I'm ashamed to admit that I spent most of the film with my hands over my eyes.

I haven't even been able to watch it since I saw it at the cinema, unlike other films that scared me at the time, like The Ring.
have to agree with afore mentioned posts.... slasher/horror flicks generally all the same and not very scary. went to see signs at the flicks nearly scared me half to death... watched it on dvd = rubbish. got scared stupid when watching pet semetary when 15... again dunno why now.!!! things tend to be more scary with spooky liitle kids (usually dressed in white) appearing at windows and stuff. The sixth sense had some genuine scary moments, like the women passing the door while he was in the toilet and th clothes pegs being ripped off the blanket.....
Horror films don't really scare me much now, although a few still make me uncomfy!I watched a british film a few years back called "Alone".Scared the s**t out of me.Most of the film is filmed through a person, with mental problems, eyes and he/she(never did work that out!)stalks people. There is one scene where he/she force feeds somebody until they die.Still send shivers down my back when I watch it now!!

You want real nightmares? Eraserhead and Pi I rest my case!

Jacobs Ladder

John Carpenter's 'The Thing' made me jump, which most horror films don't.

But for true chills, the BBC's 'Threads', about all-out nuclear war, gave me the heebees for years (and still does).

i'm a bit of a horror junkie. My brother is eight yers older than me and as a kid would make me watch horror films with him, as i was a kid i didnt really get them, so i guess i became desensitised to them. My bestmate at school and i would always stay up late watching bravo- horror films in general are super funny to me- the supernatural villans generally just make me laugh- thats not to discredit the horror genre- i love it.

From the other postings i see everyone is different, the afore mentioned films i havent found scary- some jumpy maybe- but jumpy is cool. infact an American Werewolf in london always makes me cry- its a love story.

Films i have found scary at the cinema when first out were: The Blairwitch Project- i cried at the guy in the corner scene near the end i was so freaked out and Wrong Turn which my friends found poor really scared me, i was in tears after and sppent most of my time during the film checking my watch to see how much was left- i was so scared i just wanted to get out.

But im sure others will disagree. Each to their own!
