True, cos i thought the 60's only lasted 10 years but the programme seems to have been around forever without dating !!!!

Similar to M*A*S*H....The Korean War lasted around 3 years , but the series went on for about 12+ years

how can something so damn boring last so long on TV???
The producers are missing a trick by not advancing the plot into the next decade. Afterall there is only so many references to the sixties you can cram into a series that don't date the show. When Scripps Lost all his money as a Lloyds name in the Torrey Canyon disaster it placed the date line as 1967. You'd have thought then that after three more xmas episodes the show would ring in the 70's. Sadly not. They keep bouncing around all ove the 60's. Eagle eyed veiwers will spot some of the vehicles carry tax dics from 1961 and 1962. Time to move on... or move out!

It's fun to see Heartbeat's anachronistic time travelling in full working order. I can clearly remember an episode featuring a gravestone with the date 1968. Three series later Scripps lost his money on the Torey Canyon so they all went back in time a year to 1967. The most recent car registration I've seen is H so that could be as recently as 1970. And why isn't the local train service provided by diesel trains as it would have been by the end of the 60's. It's obviously a parallel universe.
