I've just received this message from Netflix,

"Your membership has been canceled because you did not agree to the price change. You can continue watching until June 24th, 2024."

'Cancelled misspelt' , but maybe that's American spelling.       I don't remember being asked about it, has anyone else got this, or can throw any light please ?

Seems odd to me, are you in the UK?

Found this about fake subscription emails

I'm very grateful to you for that link barry, thanks.

It says I can continue watching until the 24th of June. I shall leave it until then, doing nothing, and if it does expire I'll rejoin.

My email provider here in Germany is T-Online which allows me on incoming mails to click on the sender to see their full address.

In this case, the sender is NETFLIX when I click on it it says, [email protected]  which sounds pretty convincing, but of course these scammers are quite smart.

Does German laws require people to confirm acceptance of price increases in subscriptions?

I don't have Netflix but can you log in to your account in the usual way, not through the email, and look at your suscy/membership?  There might be more information there

barry, My subscription is, I suppose like everyone elses, by a standing order,  I think changing the ammount might give access to my bank account details, so I'd better proceed with caution.

Lots of ABers have Netflix so I'll wait to see if anyone else has received this.

Okay, I just thought your account might show when your subscription ends or confirm cancellation.  As you say, it's easy to renew so not too big a problem.

Always good to be on the lookout for scams

I've just been into my Netflix settings and it appears to be genuine price rise. There are all the details of payments for the last 12 months and the only reference to my bank card is the last 4 numbers. I wasn't asked for any details, simply to accept the new price rise, which was accepted.

I can't see how any third party could benefit from that.

Thanks barry anyway.

If there is a link in that email asking you to confirm the increase and input your card details then it could be a big benefit to scammers.

I seem to remember reading that the price is going up and there will be some adverts as well.  I don't remember clicking on anything to agree but I may have done (canceled is the American spelling and Netflix is American so it may be genuine)

I`ve just gone into my spam folder and I have had the same email but it's not from Netflix so mine is spam.

I didn't give any details, just clicked to continue with the payments. I think it's OK.

I've just received a proper email from Netflix telling me my subscription will continue, so all is well.

Good.  Is the email from the same address?  It could be a response to your agreeing to the price increase this morning

I got an email from Netflix explaining about new charges. I was paying £7.99 which is now known as basic with adverts £4.99. Standard now £10.99 and premium £17.99. I have to notify them if I want to make changes if not I will revert back to basic at £4.99

Question Author

Giggsie; I'm on the advert-free one, - same on YouTubes. I think when you look at the extra cost per day over a month, it's well worth it for the convenience.

No I agreed, and didnt get this ( charged to credit card)

canceled, traveler are american isms

Yes khandro I've always had advert free but then all Netflix was. But now starting on 2nd June basic is going down in price to £4.99 from £7.99 so I had to let them know if wanted that or up my price to standard at £10.99 or premium at £17.99. I agree with no adverts prefer that . Hate engrossed in a film then adverts come on.

Mine said, "Your membership has been canceled - You can continue watching until June 24th, 2024. This is because of the risk of the Labour Party achieving a majority and immediately nationalising us in the UK."

DTC , give it a rest
