It would be helpful if news and TV presenters explained to the many who listen or view why some people wear medals on the left, some on the right and some on both breasts. Just to confuse matters some also wear randomly placed commemmorative medallions.

TV commentators in North Korea might have a hard time explaining all the medals that their generals wear on parades!

CHRIS, whilst they do wear a lot of medals, the photo has been altered as they don't wear medals on their sleeves or trousers.

Someone explained recently about the huge crop of medals worn by Russian defence minister Sergei Shoigu, a man who has never served in any armed force. It was quite hilarious: lets say none were for valour  ...

I'm surprised that it should need explaining. 

At the time I thought that only widows cd wear anothers medals, and only the small ones.

I thought the brother had to be dead - anyway the restriction  explains the second hand market

I thought it was all  about claiming it as  one's own. A Viet er non-vet was cashiered for that. 

When my grandson was in the army cadets he wore his great-grandad's war medals to the remembrance service where he was a standard bearer.  He wore these on the righthand side of his uniform.

Didnt Russell Crowe on his downward spiral,

wear his brother;s medal and get sligged off for it?
