Great show! I often wonder who pays for all that work. Does the BBC cover the cost?
Question Author
I genuinely don’t know! I guess they probably do. But some fascinating stories on there.
Question Author
Ohhh! Well I’m enjoying this.
Just looking now on iPlayer, thanks for the reminder, Smow. I always find it an enjoyable watch. Just wondering about poor George - he reminds me of someone but can't place him. Cannot be anyone here...
Perhaps I will sleep on it ;)
As far as payment is concerned, I believe that clients are expected to make a donation, but how much that might be, I don't know.

Hi choux x
Well, whether it’s sob stories or not - surely that’s what most would be anyway? Why else would someone want something old restored?
The production company, Ricochet, pays all costs. It is relatively cheap to make TV and donations if offered go to the museum where it is filmed.
Nobody is asked to donate
I do watch whenever I can, I just love seeing all those old skills being used.
Wish we saw a lot more of those skills being used

Thanks guys for agreeing with me - I loved seeing all the hours it took to repair something.
I love the positive attitude the artisans bring to the challenges put before them and I often find the tools and methods employed fascinating.

Dom is a master of many trades, love to see him sign writing free hand. Pete is a happy chappie and restores the brass instruments to mint condition. Sonnaz almost looks too young to have attained all that expertise, same goes for Will. David the mechanisms meister and Chris the remarkable book-binder - often makes covers or cases for restored books. As ever with help from their friends.

Pure enjoyment for me. Now, back to concentrate on George, lol. x

Lol thanks choux x
Particularly good tonight...I loved the lady owner of George - she was a bundle of fun!
Really interesting show. Makes me quite envious that I don't have their repair skills.
