Classic sitcom genius writing and cast but one thing that occurs to me is that How did Hyacinth and Richard ever get together? I mean Once she found out his name was Bucket, being the upper-class wannabee she is, she'd have either dumped him or used another name. Or....perhaps she became a snob later...Yes I know it's best not to ask too many questions about these things.....!

She did use another name, Bouquet.
Yes bucket was turned into bouquet, with the help of French accents!!
That was just the way she pronounced Bucket.

It was always Bucket but pronounced Bouquet.
TTT ///I mean Once she found out his name was Bucket, being the upper-class wannabee she is, she'd have either dumped him or used another name. ///
She did.
Barsel, Bouquet really was the way she pronounced Bucket. The name was never spelt Bouquet.

barsel, are you being deliberately belligerent? This ain't news. I mean she'd have changed it to some suitable posh name. She never changed the name Bucket, she changed the pronunciation, not the spelling, hence the comedic device that is used throughout.
When I was young I knew a lady called Mrs. Sidebottom. She pronounced it 'Siddybotoam'.
A bit like Sidebottom becoming Siddybotume. :-)
Snap Jourdain!

I knew someone who came from Whitechapel and insisted she came from Whitechappell.
Naomi, TTT, of course, I knew the name was Bucket and that she changed the pronunciation of it to sound posh.
It's one of those where people read it not as it was meant to be read.
I don't mean she changed it by deed poll. :-)
My Mum in her Hyacinth phase, changed the spelling of our surname because she felt it looked better and would always correct anyone who spelt it the other way.
