Anyone watched any of this? I've just watched the first two episodes and although it jumps about a bit 'John le Carré.' style I'm really enjoying it.
What think you?

Seen it all now and really enjoyed the format and of course the well known tale. For me the outstanding performance was Guy Pearce as Philby. He mimicked the style, mannerisms and voice of Kim Philby in a Bafta winning performance.
well worn story
various details retold or changed

They bugged the confession room and then the tape turned out to be bad quality ( cdnt hear anyhting) ho hum so much for MI5 efficiency.

did he flee or was he shown the way to the boat?

is this the prog where he gets to moscow and they say you arent a colonel you are plain mister.... ( no rights)

Please report this. Me again posting I the wrong place, blame post sepsis syndrome!
Was Hollis the 5th man?
Missterious - if you report it yourself, it's more likely to be removed.

Sorry for the late reply.
Thanks all for your opinions. I'll finish the programme off tonight and tomorrow.
Hi Canary. Mods don't see reports as far as I know. But if you alert them yourself they do come along and remove.
Hollis as 5th man
KGB very keen to cast suspicion as it disempowers the service. See James Jesus Angleton (CIA) who wanted "to start again" on the CIA at a time MI5 was hiding the Cambridge spies who, they thought would cause a rupture with the pure unsullied er CIA.

The clue that gives it all away is the Lady at the party who exclaims, "for Gods sake why is Philby still here? He has been a communist spy since the 30s!" - and the MI5 man says "Oh, has he?" - this is treated slightly in this version

Cairncross certainly was a spy, but of course were there more ? ( see J J Angleton above)

I loved this limited series and have suggested it to several people to watch
