Without a doubt, "Breakfast at Tiffany's".

I once (and only once) spent what would otherwise have been a pleasant two hours watching it and waiting for something to happen. It never did and I'd have got more entertainment watching the grass grow in my garden.

In joint second place comes any film that has won an Oscar. Before I watched BaT I'd watched two (Gandhi and A Passage to India). Having endured them (and suggested that Richard Attenborough should spend the rest of his life locked in the Tower of London for sedition) I vowed never to watch another. Unfortunately I was conned into watching BaT but my rule is now firmly enforced and even stretches to films which have received Oscar nominations.

I have to disagree with NJ and Kustard - they were two of the most beautiful films ever made.

My fair lady has to be my ultimate favourite.

"It's A Wonderful Life" was never a box office hit, but became a classic later, which I think is the way of the best films.

So sorry to disagree. Possibly at the time it was one of the most underrated.

The French Lieutenant's Woman was one of my A-Level texts, and I found it virtually unreadable, so I swerved the film.

Most overrated, and over-hyped, for me was The Blair Witch Project - it was billed as terrifying, and as I love a horror film, I went to the cinema to watch it.....and nothing happened. Biggest film disappointment ever.
