I like Steve Wright…
On Radio 2 (and Radio 3, which I listen to a lot) all the music is chosen by the producer, in KB's case it's Phil McGarvey, with help from Suzie Dietrich.

The producer for Radio 3 programmes has a lot to do, including writing all the info and links, which is why the breakfast show has a roster of them.
Does anyone actually find that Serious Jockin' stuff amusing?
I like Steve Wright
Steve Wright was a breath of fresh air when he first joined Radio 1, after his stint on learning "the craft" in America. Matthew Bannister knew what he was doing!

But that was then, and he has seriously passed his sell-by date and, clearly, now outlived his usefulness, in current format at least.
Scott Mills is awful on Saturday mornings on 5 live, will be glad to see the back of him. If only they could get rid of Laura Whitmore on Sundays as well
Never listened to him much. That 'Serious jockin' stuff really annoys me. Scott Mills is ok, but at that time of the day I'll rarely get to listen anyway. Love Ken Bruce, Sara Cox and Jo Whiley if I catch up on Sounds.
Granted he was good in his day. The posse. The milkman. "Get the geese out of here!" etc. But it's time for a change.
I'm not convinced Scott Mills is the man though.
Sometimes the BBC is too loyal, rewarding long time people with new jobs.
Perhaps they should be more like premiership clubs, going out and recruiting the best.
I've always liked Steve Wright. He knows how to brighten people up. He always makes me laugh/ smile. Must admit, not taken up with the 'serious jockin'
I liked all the impressionists that use to come on in the past.
Damien the Social Worker, Mr.Angry, The Pub Singer, Elvis in the building..
I shall miss him. I don't think Scott Mills will do as well.
Good presenter and DJ until he starts singing over the end of the songs! *Cringe*
Radio 2 lost its way a long time ago. I'm afraid when Simon Mayo left, I wasn't far behind him.
Their lowest point was getting rid of the dark lord, Alex Lester, on nights.
I know Chris Buenchico wil agree.
"all the impressionists"

Weren't all the voices and characters done by Steve and Mike Reid?
That was his Radio 2 show, though, not the Radio 1 show back in the day. Mr Angry, the manager, Damian the Radio 1 social worker, etc.
I don't listen to R 2, so shouldn't really comment - except that my sister and many friends do listen and they have all said that they will have to change radio stations and can't get on with the modern stuff.
Where do you go from Radio 2 if it's too modern?
Absolute Radio Victorian?
Heart 70s.
It's clear Mr Wright is a divisive figure, as is Mr Mills.

Personally, my own objections to Steve Wright is his habit of always saying that everyone who writes in says how they 'love the show', as if he would be quoting someone saying it was tripe!

And his approach, shared by every radio presenter, that everything in the world is fabulous.

But as for Scott Mills, he has a rare gift of making me forget what he has said half-a-second after he has finished saying it.

BBC Radio has a track record of bad decisions with its choice of presenters and changing of shows, I suspect this will be another failure.
Greg James would have been better
