Here is a still from a TV drama, showing part of the jury box. It got me thinking about the various different dress styles. On my first Jury Duty I wore a suit and tie, and as a result (being the only one so dressed) the rest of them appointed me as Foreman. On my second spell I dressed casual, and we appointed someone else.

What did (or would) you wear when sitting on a Jury.

Finally, here is what the Gov Website has to say on the topic

[i] There is no strict dress code and you can wear clothes you’re comfortable in, such as jeans and a t-shirt.

Very casual clothing such as shorts or clothing with inappropriate logos or slogans are not allowed. [i]

I can't remember what I wore, but I suggested that if no-one else wanted to be foreman, then I would be happy to do it. They all agreed.
I think I would wear my silver lame, low cut dress with the thigh split.
Only My fake fur and chanel no 5
Something comfortable. Definely not smart stuff.

I'm glad I accepted the Foreman role - it was an interesting experience. And it had an amusing end. After standing up to deliver the verdict, I sat down again. But because there was a minor complexity about the case which the Judge decided we plebs were too thick to appreciate (even though he had fully explained it before sending us out to deliberate) he questioned me further - the expression on the Court Usher's face when I answered while remaining seated was priceless :-)
I don't possess any smart stuff!! Not since retiring. I think I'm too old to be called up now!

Tamaris //Only My fake fur and chanel no 5// and no knickers?
Canary can you still be called upon when you are 75 or do you have to be 76 before they don't ask you?
I have 4 months to go Canary! Never have been called up, not has Hubby.

Barsel, I assume the latter, but at that age it's easy to get excused I understand.
Barsel ....correct lol
Yes it's 18 - 75 now but it doesn't say inclusive or exclusive.
I wouldn't fancy sitting in a courtroom all day, so hopefully I can have a good excuse if I'm called upon.
I would definitely be excused! You have to be of sound mind ;o)

I think it might depend on how lawless the area you live in - I never got called when I lived in Norwich, Swindon or Staines, then when I moved to Portsmouth I got the call twice LOL.
It was a hot summer when I did it back in the 1980s opted for casual enough to be comfortable but not so casual that we couldn't get into Harrods and Harvey Nicks when we weren't needed but hadn't been sent home for the day.
Lottie I'll use that one, I can easily prove I'm as daft as a brush.
The men came in looking like slobs - trews, shirt, often socks, didnt check underpants, and synthetic over thingey

I think you call the wilds of North Norfolk quite a lawful area!!! I suppose Norwich would be our nearest court, or maybe Kings Kynn. Never thought about it.
No it is serious stuff
we agonised about sending a 16 y o to prison as it wd probably be the end of his ( useful ) life
67% go back in - - - 75% never get a job
