Well, I am watching it and agree it is good. BBC always does costume dramas well.

Shake me up, Judy!

I'm so happy that the Beeb is doing this dramatization as it's a book I wouldn't be able to read as the plot is so complicated, so many twists and turns and not a lot happening but the characters are a joy. The acting is second to none, though I'm not sure that Anna Maxwell Martin (brilliant though she is) is totally believable as the daughter of the beauteous Gillian Anderson. Do you agree?

I'm watching it when I can and I think it is very good. I love the camera work and the acting is outstanding. I know of 4 other people watching and enjoying it so you are certainly not alone.
J.
This has been the best program since 1995 Pride & prejudice. It is excellent in every way. And yes, i do think Esther is beautiful in her own way- and the camera made a silent point of her resemblence to Lady Dedlock by going back and forth between their blue eyes last week.

Shake me up Judy! Has got to be the latest catchphrase! Didn't really like this actor in that detective thing with 'Racquel' but this part was made for him.

PS

Anybody know why he has to be 'shaken up'?

I'm watching it, Its been an amazing peice of television. One point though on the final of mastermind the other week one of the questions gave away the plot (well for me anyway as i haven't read the book), Knowing whats coming will not spoil it for me as the camerawork and acting is great. But I was a bit mad at first. Very good casting too.

In A Pickle... I've been watching it too. Wasn't captain Hawden the copier who died from opium overdose... if it was then we did get to see him (or am I losing the plot). It's brilliant by the way.

I knew it - Captain Hawden was extremely handsome!

Last night after the creepy Tulkinghorn threatened Lady Dedlock she opened a drawer and threw his letters on the fire with a photograph of him in uniform. He gets his just desserts maybe tonight, which is a pity as Charles Dance is so good that the menace factor will be missing on his demise.

Here's a picture of Esther's father

Well IAP, this is just my theory. She must have been a very bad girl, perhaps lusting after the handsome doctor instead of nice Mr Jarndyce - and her punishment was last in line for the makeup department!!
I absolutely love Denis Lawson as Jarndyce with his wonderful soulful eyes. This whole series has been superb and I'll suffer serious withdrawal symptoms when it's finished. Already ordered the box set from the bbc shop. Anyone else liking Denis should watch Sensitive Skin on Thursdays cos he's fantastic in that too.
