Seriously .. I used to work closely with NRS. My guess is they may well be the largest distributor and installer of mobility aids on behalf of the NHS.
What you need to do is speak to your GP and get referred to Occupational Therapy.
They will visit and assess your situation. They will arrange for a suitable bathing seat if that is what is needed.
Whatever you do dont just buy one, only to find out it is not exactly what you needed. They can be very expensive and a very nice person will visit and talk you into something that they are selling. There will be absolutely no returns on such an item.
Use the GP to .. 'test the water first'

Lots of people have powered bath aids and love them. I would add though that they do need careful cleaning and must dry between uses or they will soon get smelly. If you use the band type, then you will need to be able to balance on the band and shuffle sideways as it lowers and raises you, also the band must be left out to dry between uses. They will need specialist installation and servicing. The only kind that you can use to lie back and wallow is the band kind. I would suggest that you start with a shop where you can try different kinds and whatever the offer, go home and think about it before you order. DON'T buy online without trying and DON'T have a rep come to your home...or if you do have a strong minded friend with you! I know these are aids to help people with problems but they are still wanting to sell you stuff.
alava, I totally agree, except round here the only aids that you can get issued now are things like non powered bath seats and boards unless you have a serious long term disability. In this case they will give grants for more expensive bath adaptations or equipment but they require the person to have a confidential financial assessment to ascertain the contribution that the person would be expected to make. Bath seats and boards don't give you a bath as such, they are more so you can sit down to use a shower attachment.
ok - thanks all for your answers, Chris - I don't have a mobile phone, can't hear on them.
it is just that I'm feeling pretty sore as I fell over a step into the yard, this afternoon, lucky I have only scrapes on my elbow and knee, managed to keep my head up to save my lovely teeth, but I am feeling a bit wrenched (sp). I don't need these falls since I have had so many breaks with my arm and suffer very badly with the fibromyalgia so I want to be very careful at what I pick.
I can sit down on the bath but difficulty in getting out. I sorta don't want to bother GP with all that is going on. Maybe I will write a letter.
