Has anyone noticed that the ad breaks are longer, with more ads than the norm? Or is it my imagination ?

You seriously don’t understand about advertisement revenues and seasonal demand?

Doesn't do anything for me.
Subliminally it probably does.

If I want anything I buy it, ads don't sell me anything. However, I like the music on the M&S ad. Only the music, haven't bought anything there.
The more popular the programme, the longer the adverts are. Makes sense to me.
‘ ads don't sell me anything’

That’s what you think
Quite, zacs.

That's what YOU think
well they sell someone something
or they woudnt be there

actually it is pretty straighrforward to measure how many wibbles or polyparts an ad is selling innit?
We are saturated and bombarded with endless advertisements whenever and wherever we go. No need for subconscious, subliminal, subtle urging you to purchase. It’s in your face, never ending tripe.
I hate it, and make a deliberate effort to avoid whatever they over hype.
Record anything on the commercial tv stations and then skip through the ads when you watch your recorded programmes.
They've been getting longer and greater in number for years. Probably more importation of American (TV) culture.
I'm the same Tony, anything decent on commercial TV I try to record or at a pinch use the break to do something else.

I can totally understand the advertisers point of view however.

So do I, Mamya. Just don't want to watch ads though.
Course not.
No its not your imagination, i timed it out of i interest the other night and one particular ad break was 5 minutes, it never used to be that.

I used to put the kettle on one ad break and go back and make the tea the next ad break, now i can boil the kettle, make the tea, get the bicuits and still have time to get back and settled before some programs come back on.
It is not your imagination, bobbie, and it is not just on commercial stations. I find the BBC programmes are sandwiched by interminable (so it seems) trailers which are repeated so often I feel bored by them and resolve not to watch the programmes. Therefore, it is all rather self-defeating in this household.
