I honestly believe that answerbank depends too much on certain post
These posts put abers in a certain position on here,
Like Mamy with her late night music, the birthday post, good morning early birds, what did you have for dinner, all these posts are same as same as,and will eventually without change result in the demise of answerbank, and yes I expect the usual,if you feel that way why stay?and some will turn this post into a slanging match till it gets pulled, yes answerbank has been around a long time, but nothing lasts forever,

I do understand the point that Jordy is making, this site is called ANSWERBANK and indeed a decade ago was such, with informed posters answering questions on their particular "speciality" and for whatever reason, these "professiona ls " have largely disappeared, leaving AB as basically a social media site with Crosswords and puzzles thrown in. Nothing...

Crosswords and quizzes pay the wages for answerbank, in my humble opinion. These are the busiest topics
Many "hits", every hit includes advertising.
The other threads you mention Jordy are " icing on the cake" not so much for answerbank but the long term posters that enjoy them.
News and religion have very few posts, but, those that like to "debate" do not create much advertising revenue for the site.
Look at the topics that have the most posts, they are the ones that line the coffers of AB.

Nothing can be done as the tides of time are obliterating landmarks in the sand and que sera sera.
I don't think that the reformatting of AB did much for the site, in fact i think that it lost members, but i think that a further remodelling invoking less sections and subsections would be helpful.

All the best publications / radio shows / tv shows have their ‘anchor’ features. I see no difference with a chat forum and I see no indication that they are detrimental to the site. Quite the reverse, in fact.
I think there’s a bit of an attempt to ruffle feathers here by Jordy given his past history.
Pssssst. We can see thru you.

LOL...one doesn't need to start a thread to "ruffle feathers" as on AB all one needs to do is to offer an opposing opinion.
Yes, I agree, it is now playing a part as a "Chat Forum" and like you i see no harm in it , the unfortunate aspect is that it is called ANSWERBANK which seems to be dwindling in informed answers to questions.

I think that people simply have more options now. We still do have on here experts in diy, gardening, health and so on as well as a lively group of expert patients who have learnt via their own experience....but there are many more specialist websites and facebook groups which show up when people search....but I am still not sure what Jordy's point is?
The only issue I have with AB is a couple of constant reincarnating trolls and when they are active I post less, but the Ed's deal with them quickly now so essentially no harm done. With regards to regular threads, take part or don't, how do threads existing affect you? If you want more diversity start more threads of your own that aren't moans, whines or criticisms of other users. Try a bit of positivity instead of stirring up grief all the time, and if people don't like how much time someone spends on the site ( I had no idea there was a law about that, who knew?) then they are welcome to either spend more themselves and equal it out or mind their own business I imagine. Not everything has to be a huge drama, this is a simple Q&A /Social Media site and it can benefit all of us if used properly.
1ozzy you’re saying look at the topics that have most posts yes I did that ,your on gmeb every morning so you must know what I am on about, what do they say same thing every morning and now lately the highlights are zapping spammers so this is acceptable because of the number of posts?dont think this is what answerbank was all about
