Yes, absolutely. And stop paying lottery wins to the likes of linaker, evans etc.
I don't see why not.
To fend off the grumbles perhaps the over 75's could get a reduced rate licence?
No, they should scrap the licence fee for all.
if the couple pictured in the link are over 75 i'd like to know what they're on ...
No. It would be the thin edge of the wedge. They'll be wanting our bus passes next.
//Previously the BBC has proposed scrapping free licences for households who are not entirely made up of over 75-year-olds.//
Seems fair.
I am not sure how it actually costs them money? Its the old thing about whether the loss of potential income is actually a cost? Personally I think its curmudgeonly in the extreme.
The BBC should become self-funding. They wouldn't waste so much money if they had to earn it themselves.
As had been pointed out, it seems reasonable if there is someone in the household under 75. Such a person living on their own would have to pay the fee.
Yes
No, most over 75's are housebound are rely on the tele for company!
And besides, how can any oap afford this exorbitant price?
Most over-75 year olds I know are not too hard up to afford a tv licence. My dad will be moaning if it's scrapped though.
Maybe just people over 75 and on benefits should have the free licence. They are the ones it would hit most severely.
Most 75 year olds I know are not housebound at all, times have changed. My in-laws are in that bracket, currently boozing it up in the Med and don't need any freebies. Perhaps it should be means tested.
Exactly clovers and Sharon ? Most over 75s are housebound? Sorry but out of the dozens of 75 and over not one is housebound
BBC should get real and fund itself. After all it is just the government's propaganda machine anyway. Perhaps if it was self-funding we would get more balanced news
Sorry but out of the dozens of 75 and over not one is housebound

What does that mean ?
Rockrose //Sorry but out of the dozens of 75 and over not one is housebound//
And you know this how?
Sparklykid I don’t know who you are but please stop pulling me up on what I write. It’s perfectly clear what I mean.
Danny I would know if they were house bound
