I think they should abolish the licence for everybody. We shouldn't need one in this day and age.
Ive been castigated enough times on here for not paying what is essentially an exortion tax, but I couldn't give a flying fig what anyone thinks. If you're daft enough to pay it then carry on.
I no longer own a TV but when I did I had letters galore from licensing authorities and totally ignored them. Had them knocking on my door and told them that I wasn't interested in what they had to say and shut the door. They have no more right of way to enter your house to see if you are viewing live TV than you have to enter THEIR house to see if they have tax on their car. Its a sham.
If you want to pay the BBC to give jobs to the likes of Jimmy Savile et al then that's your choice.

The laws surrounding paying a license are a bit of a minefield but I (legally) got around it and never paid for years. Never once had a court order against me because I never once let these so called 'inspectors' into my house.

Apart from which BBC is rubbish anyway....

Lefty peels himself out of bed at 11:30am (his crack of dawn) and shuffles down to Mr Mohammed's papershop for his Guardian.'

'Got me paper, MrM'?
'There you go, Lefty, two pounds, please'
'But, MrM, it says one fifty on the cover'
'Yeeaah, the extra 50p goes into The Daily Mail fund'
'But I don't look at the Mail, I don't even like it'
'What can you do, thems the rules, Lefty. If you don't chip in, Mail readers would have to pay more. And anyway, £3 a week, everybody can afford that'.
