Am I in a minority of one? Why do tv stations put on live subtitles when they can't keep up. This is esp annoying when it comes to live football.. Or the news... The subtitles are playing long after the guy has said it... I know what you are going to say.... Turn off the subtitles.. But really, what is the point?

I do need subtitles but don’t bother with live progs.

The News is normally ok to follow but yes, I agree with you.
Not only do they not keep up a lot of it is rubbish. If you read the subtitles and listen it's often nothing like what they are saying.
I agree with both the above posts. I use subtitles all the time, and often the subtitles don't keep up, especially on the news and the weather forecast. The words typed are often gobbledegook too. We get a few laughs at the words that appear on the screen. What really annoys me is when I record a programme or stream a film and find the subtitles don't work.
Turn off the subtitles. Despite their numerous weaknesses, people whose hearing is less than perfect, depend on them.

There is no case to answer for subtitles on live football... Even for the deaf. The action doesn't represent the words...
the point is the hard of hearing, like me.
Another obvious point with live football, the commentator doesn't know whats going to happen so it can't be predicted what he's going to say... neither does the person doing the subtitles until after the fact so bound to be a lag.
