I have heard rumours that Elvis was gay? Also how can people call this person the king but he was a drug taker and that isnt what i would call a good role model and someone to look up to.

First things first - when you are as famous as Elvis Presley, then just about any rumour possible is going to circulate - especially after his untimely death. Anything from his sexuality, to being an alien from outer space has done, and is doing the rounds - it is all part of the myth of fame. As for your second point, Elvis is known as 'The King Of Rock And Roll' which he most certainly is, having caused a seismic shift in cultural attitudes never seen before, rarely seen since. Unfortunately, as well as being an inovative musician of awesome proportions, Elvis was a frail human being, and unable to rersist the worst temptations put in front of him on a regular basis. You have to be able to separate the art from the artist, otherwise you start judging everyone by their liefetyle, and not by their musical output. From Wagner onwards, musicians and artists have had their work linked to their beliefs and lifestyles, I firmly believe that the two are separate. Gary Glitter may be an odious human being, but that doesn't detract from his place as a founder member of the Glam Rock fraternity, and maker of some of the defining singles of the genre. Pop stars are rarely good role models, that's part of their appeal in the first place.

I heard a rumour that Mike Tyson is gay... but i'm certainly not going to ask him if it's true.
It's astonishing though how prevalent the 'x is gay' rumour still is though. If you spend any time on the scurrilous pop related site Popbitch, it appears that a large number of the contributors are gay, and even they take great delight in spreading rumours about pop stars' sexuality. I would have thought such things would be dying out - It's not like being gay is considered worthy of comment simply of itself these days - but it nevertheless persists!
