Does anyone remember a tv program that involved green lines in a grid formation that people had to cross?  I only have a vague memory of it

I believe you're talking about 'The Adventure Game' which ran in the 80s on BBC2 and was a forerunner to The Crystal Maze. It featured a talking plant (sometimes taking the form of a teapot) The End Game was the vortex in which minor celebs had to cross a grid without being destroyed!

I know one called the Incredible Games, which on a grid game had a dark knigh if he caught the contestant they fell in to the laundry room. There was also a bit where they had to collect letters from a swimming pool made to look like a bowl of alphabet soup and make words!

sounds like the adventure game to me,the vortex being the grid in question,i believe it was presented by moira stewart
Do you have a vague memory of a weird kids' game show? Then here's how to tell what it was! If you were born before 1980, it's The Adventure Game. If you were born in 1980 or later, it's Incredible Games. SImple as that. Oh, and no, Knightmare is not coming back.
