I think I'd be lucky to get 16, They always seem to get one letter (or more) than I do anyway. It's a momentous moment if I get more than the pair of them.

Was the winners score of 108 a good one? If they're a good player the loser in the match will have a very low score. That hardly makes them a loser in the sense of the OP

I haven't watched this show for a long while and I can't remember what a good score is. If 108 is an exceptional score then the loser isn't going to amass many points. They've been unlucky in their opponent.

3 digits is a decent score.
But to be honest it depends how the numbers come out. If you are 1 up on your opponent every round you still win, with a much lower score, whilst your opponent gets next to nothing as second scores nothing.

And you fail to get STAIN or Stains and submit a four then perhaps Countdown isn't the game for you.

when my nephew ( 12) or something went up for it, my brother went as a chaperone
and one person didnt turn up - - - aaargh !
and so he stepped in to make up numbers ( me bruvva that is yeah )

and could only manage DOG and TIC

they scrapped the episode
