I applaud the enterprise but I cannot see many willing to pay on top of their council tax.

I'm still awaiting my refund from the less frequent collections, and the stealing of my street light lighting before I get back at night. Never needed to extort more in the past, why claim it is a solution now ? What are they getting wrong ?
Our local council lets you pay extra for collecting additional non-recyclable waste simply by selling special orange bin bags (from local Post Offices) for 65p each. The bin men will then collect them along with the contents of our black wheelie bins. That means that the council receive the additional income needed to pay for the extra landfill charges.

I can't see many people paying around £300 per year extra (assuming that the private collections are only two weeks out of three, or well over £400 if they also collect in the same week as the council) for additional bin collections.
I wouldn't pay for extra regular collections, but I would pay for one offs.
We have weekly collections of food waste and bi weekly collections of recyclable non recyclable and garden waste (the latter for an extra charge)
If the council stopped one or more of those we'd just get an extra bin. As long as the food waste is collected weekly it is fine for us
Our bins and recycling is collected weekly.
If this bloke can do it and make a profit, I'd be putting pressure on the council to be going back to weekly collection. Round here, its not uncommon to pay for excess rubbish to be taken to the tip via the many "man and van" businesses but there is also no limit on what a household can put out in terms of amount, both of recycling and non recycling. Large domestic items won't be taken but small things (up to say a vaccuum cleaner) will be taken as part of the weekly collection. I think the council can't lean too hard on refuse collection because of the New Forest. Fly tipping is easy and does happen, I imagine it would quickly get worse if people had difficulty disposing of household waste.
Ours is collected weekly and have no problem at all .

No, I wouldnt pay for extra collection as we do not need any.
Our food waste collections are fortnightly and I must admit I have to jump in the bin every now and then to pack it down. If the tid doesn't close perfectly then they don't empty it - simple. You can put additional bags out otherwise they then don't even empty the big bin. Tried and tested by the council house up the road - they haven't had theirs emptied for 6 weeks. The bin is covered in warning stickers and there's black sacks piled up in the garden.
They also photograph the bin if it's over filled more than once in 2 consecutive weeks for evidence. I've watched them do it.
We're only allowed to put out 2 green bags of household rubbish per week but they will take any amount of recycling.
Our bins are collected fortnightly, 3 bins, we don't always put them out that often. The food waste goes with garden rubbish, I put peelings into the bin but any meat waste I put into the freezer until the day of collection. Don't have any problem with the arrangements
Our wheelies bins are emptied every night.
£30.00 pound a year for every extra Bin you want in York. We are allowed just one green and one landfill. So if you want one extra bin one of each that £60.00 extra, thank you very much. Robbing bustards!
Local foxes Samuraisan ?
I pay enough in council tax, so no I wouldn't pay any extra - robbing so and so's !
I d wonder how some places can afford weekly collections and others not...mind you our council tax is not the lowest.
I would pay, for rubbish posters, of non news stories on this site.

How do you define Non-News Stories?,
according to you, this is a News Story
