Oh I love Deadwood!!  I've just watched the first season on DVD.  The annexation politics was a bit tricky to follow but I think I get it.  Is there anything particular that you didn't follow?

I'm confused with Al Swearengen (sorry if that's spelt incorrectly.)  What is he after from the gold mines?  What is the agenda of the man who killed all those prostitutes?

if you google al swearengens name you can get the info about what he was really up to. i assumed he was just being entrepeneurial in a victorian way. the killer walcott is just a psychopath whos also a geologist in the pay of a big capitalist of the time.
