How many new episodes are there each week?

Morning Hopkirk !

It starts on Monday evening, and goes on until Friday evening. They all take the day off on Saturday evening, the ruddy slackers and then continue on Sunday evening. There is a omnibus edition at 10.00 on Sunday morning, although the timing on this can be somewhat unreliable if Remembrance Sunday, and other major events get in the way.

Well I thought there was a new episode on Sunday evenings, but if so that makes six.

However the omnibus is only an hour and a quarter, which suggests five quarter hour shows.

Where am I going wrong?

Don't forget the Archers Xtra episodes on the other Digital channel (Radio 4 Extra?) I personally don't listen to those. But I suppose they count

Presumably they are not actually fifteen minutes long which is how the omnibus manges to be an hour and a quarter.

Also I presume the Friday evening one doesn't get a repeat, except in the omnibus.

Well they always waffle on for a few minutes at the start advertising their own programmes and of course you have a couple of minutes news as well.

I think Ladybirder has the answer there, it must be the 7o'clock news that makes the difference.

I think each episode is 12 minutes long, Hoppers. They have 2 minutes news plus a bit of waffle before each one. :o)

Oh, by the way, Archers Extra on Radio 4 Extra has been cancelled after a series of ridiculous storylines finally wore down the audience.

I think the answer lies in that each nightly episode is NOT 15 mins long !
It starts at 19:02 or thereabouts, after the 19:00 news bulletin. And if you take off the intro and outro music for each episode, the 6 weekly programs can easily be fitted into the Sunday morning slot.

Those who listen every day at 1400 may miss the Friday evening episode, unless they carefully switch on to the end of the omnibus.

Does anyone else hate the different music style for the omnibus intro?

I always watch the Friday episode on my laptop whenever I remember over the weekend Hopkirk. It took me ages to realise I was missing any and thought my memory was worse than it actually is.
Mikey, myself, Pooka and The Builder all said what you said @ 13.12, at 09.28, 09.59 and 10.06 respectively. Just saying:-)

How about starting a campaign to get a Saturday night episode as well ?

I wonder why there is no Saturday episode and how that came to be. Can you answer that mikey? And why the Friday episode isn't repeated?

The Sunday episode has only existed for less than 20 years and was a result of popular request ! And the Friday is repeated, albeit as part of the Sunday morning Omnibus
