What are your impressions?

In our house, we thought it was the best ITV drama since 'Broadchurch' although not in the same league as 'The Fall', from last year...

I enjoyed it sp. I think Sheridan Smith is a superb actress.
I think it felt rushed - but presume the erst will be more in depth. Suppose they had to portray what went before.
I wondered where he was getting the tablets from when they were in New Zealand, he didn't seem to be working in a hospital there. OH thinks that his father knows what happened in the original death, he says there was "a look".

Now that sounds interesting.

What channel was 'Mayday' on? Will see if I can find it on 'on demand' TV.

One big criticism I had about The Widower had to do with crime scene forensics. Won't say any more in case people haven't seen it yet. Left a HUGE question in our house...
worth watching, he is so creepy, what was ''the fall' about, I may have missed it ?
Enjoyed part 1 - is part 2 on next Monday?
yes
Really enjoyed it. Wish it was over three nights instead of three weeks ! Didn't watch The Fall.
Yes, the trend of showing over consecutive nights is much better IMO.
With regard to the crime scene forensics (that were'nt) sp.Without giving anything away do you refer to the red containers in the vehicle by chance?
Jars of Red Mountain?
Did wonder about them retro
Sainsbury's Red Label.I'm sticking to tea nowadays Sipowicz!!
Really enjoyed last nights episode, as stated before really wish it had been show on 3 consecutive nights or in 2 1and half hour episodes. A really creepy guy I thought. Looking forward to next Monday.
I think, maggiebee,it would be quite simple for a forensic examiner either police or from another emergency service(not the AA) to establish an accelerant had been used in quantity.
Agree retro, but then it would have been over in one episode. Looking forward to the next two.
Don't forget, this is based on fact, doesn't show the forensics in a good light!

Okay - I've left it long enough for people to watch now...

I watch loads and loads of crime dramas, and I know that The Widower was based on true events, but I had two big questions after he murdered his first wife...

1. If there was a motorcyclist, the police would have checked for tyre marks (braking etc) on the carriageway. What we saw was him drive off the road without braking.

2. If a car is consumed by fire, there would be evidence of a petrol. Cars don't just burst into flame, and the fire service would have been able to easily determine that there was petrol inside the car.

However, as I say - this was based on a true story, so obviously he must've gotten away with it.

But overall, I thought it was a top piece of drama, and both of us howled when the final credits rolled, knowing that we would have to wait a full seven days for the next episode.

Reese Shearsmith - early contender for the BAFTAs 2015?

The Fall was a murder mystery set in Ireland, starring Gillian Anderson as Met officer investigating a murder.

That's all I want to say.

It was really, really very good indeed. And the bloke who plays the murderer (I'm not giving anything away, because he's revealed to be the murderer from the start) is incredible.

I actually found it quite difficult to watch.

Also, he's going to be playing Christian Grey in the movie version of 'Fifty Shades of Grey' if that's if an interest.
