If it's that 'smile though your heart is aching' song, I'm sure I heard that Charlie Chaplin wrote it x
It was Charlie Chaplin, he composed the music for every one of his films although he could neither read or write music.

He thought of it and just la la la la'd it to a qualified musician who wrote it down for him.
there is also you better smile smile, was that the lemon heads?

I was searching for this song for ages and the only one I could get was one by Michael Jackson.
If it is Charlie Chaplin, could it be from his film "Limelight"?

It ssems the music was written by Chaplin, and the Lyrics by John Turner and Geoffrey Parson, and was for Chaplin's film "Modern Times"

I've got a version by Diana Ross from the 70s but I can't remember which album its on...
