Three young lads (about 10 YO) come knocking on our door every month or so, bucket/car shampoo/sponge in hand, asking if they can wash our cars for whatever money we're prepared to give them.
I think this is heartwarming in an age where most are vegging out in front of X-Boxes and being fed all this b*llsh!t that there is a kiddy diddler on every street corner.
I find it quite entertaining that they spend half of the time chucking water at each other and that they need a little nagging to get the job done properly.
Does anyone else have any tales of hope regarding our youth ?

Da Yoofs ho kay
Don' dis da yuf - nuf sed?
Yes, I have spent many hours come rain or shine watching kids play football on Sunday mornings. Girls and boys and their families are involved. They are motivated and great to know teenagers. I think yob culture is more isolated where I am , sure we have the odd one or two out of control stroppy kids on the whole they are good kids. I pass and interact with a few and they are pleasant to me.
whatever happened to "bob a job" ? those kids used to be willing & focased.
If they are serious about making money and go on to do good profit making activities then they are the future. Chances are they are 3rd generation scroungers (parents are receiving benefits) and they are just taking the Fosters!
Every so often we have two young lads come to our door to ask to wash our car. I costs 50p, they are nice polite young lads and I don't mind giving them 50p each. The last time they came it was snowing, they bought their shovels with them and charged us 50p to clear the front path.

Blimey thenry, they don't even specify how much they want, they're friendly, chatty and getting up off their bums to actually do something constructive of a Sunday afternoon, how can that be 'taking the p!ss'?
"Chances are" you're wrong.
Bit harsh thenry. Seems our youths can't win.
thenry - don't pre judge all the young folk, there are more good than bad and I speak from experience.
If my friend and I hadn't washed cars in North Belfast as kids then I wouldn't have gone to the World Cup in Mexico to support Northern Ireland.

All the car washing paid for LPs (remember them?), and I amassed a fair collection over the years, which I then later sold to fund my trip to Mexico.
when I first moved here 7 years ago..there was a group of kids around 8 who played in the street..everyone moaned about them..I made friends with them talked to them built snowmen with them etc..thay all now are lovely kids of around 15/16 and no bother at all.. in bad weather they always ask me if I need any help..always chat with me if I am out front in the garden ..
