William Shatner is to be the host of Have I Got News For You on 25th May.

Will he make the show boldly go where no previous episode has gone before or will his performance turn out to be less fun than a Vulcan death grip?

"Will he make the show boldly go where no previous episode has gone before"

If he's as funny as he was in Boston Legal, then, yes, I think he will.
I Hope it's true, I liked him i Boston Legal.
What a dilemma, I love HIGNFY and can't stand him, do I watch or not?????????
he likes a laugh, and he can take a ribbing with the best of them.

i for one, will eagerly look forwrd to seeing the programme .. i religiously watch HIGNFY anyway as it is one of the best on the BBC
I love Star Trek and and the actors associated with it, including William Shatner......even though, from most accounts, his ego was huge during his Star Trek days: but like a great singer with massive diva-like behaviour, I can easily forgive him that trait. As he's aged, however, he seems to be able to poke fun at himself. I'm hugely looking forward (a little split infinitive tribute there) to seeing him on HIGNFY along with the question rounds which will, no doubt, be themed around Star Trek.
It should be translated into German and spammed onto their equivalent of an Answerbank site - perhaps with an offer to play Vulcan Poker.
I hope he doesn't sing!

Not sure he'll 'get' Merton and Hislop's humour...................
