Its a complete load of 'TWADDLE' the prog about Essex, its all hyped up to make us look like idiots and its the very few that are anything like that lot.
I've got 3 kids & they all went to comprehensive Schools & went on to University, they are well spoken and well mannered. To be truthful after living in Essex all my life I've never seen people like those in the...

It's basically just for us to laugh at how thick they are, and I think there's supposed to be a soap style storyline that bubbles along but I've never been able to understand what it is. I don't watch it because apart from being a waste of my life it bugs me how talentless f**kwits like them become famous, rich & even idolised when there are so many great undiscovered talents out there who don't get what they deserve because its not telly dujour by the tv execs standards
Just the trailer drives me insane- a succession of neanderthals saying "Shuddup". Not my idea of entertainment.!
They can all go into room 101 with Jedward for me!

The reason I was curious is because I am an Essex lady.I dont want to be tarred with the same brush, what rubbish.
My ex was from Essex - needless to say I cant stand it!!!
Hi bundle one, I turned it on for the first 15 minutes, because I'd seen a few ads about it and somebody I know was raving on about it, but from what i saw, well one word comes to mind ... CRAP! :)
Well, since I'm across the border in Suffolk, I could make some very rude comments about Essex!

But since a fellow moderator lives there (ChuckFickens in Coggeshall) and our beloved Jemisa does so as well (near to Southend), not to mention that my mother's family were from Ramsden Bellhouse, Danbury and Laindon, perhaps I'd better stay quiet ;-)

Its all exagerated and Insulting to other Essex people.

See?

I told you I was scared of Jemisa!
;-)
Never watched it because I can't abide the accent.

It's a sad fact of life that some accents do make the speaker sound less intelligent than others - Essex, Yorkshire and West Midlands spring to mind.

I think Frank Skinner is one of the cleverest and probably one of the best read people appearing on television today, but i have to fight to get past his accent which does make him sound slightly dense, even though what he is saying constantly underlines that he is anything but.

Adrian Chiles however, simply underlines his inability to say anything worth hearing about anything.
TOWIE is partly filmed where I used to live, Loughton, and as some know I used to be a postman. My mate was delivering to a shop where it was being filmed one morning, and as he did so, the director shouted "film the postman, film the postman!"

He said don't you dare, people think I'm an idiot already without being on this tripe (though he used another word). Apparently the look on their faces was priceless.
The way they speak on that prog is not how Essex people (In general) speak. That lot speak in an East London accent. Most real Essex people speak with a sort of Country burr, as in Suffolk.

I'd disagree with that in a way. The areas they are from are London overspill, and many people and families are from East London originally so it is accurate in that sense. That said, Essex is a big county and once you start going out a bit it dissapears.
Doesn't it say on the blurb that some of the scenes are contrived? So is it a reality'documentary programme or just a set up show? Only seen a short bit of it and couldn't believe people would allow themselves to be filmed looking right tw*ts.

Well, nobody has had a good word to say about it.Thanks for all your comments.
I like watching it. OK, so it's a bit crap and although they try to make us believe they just follow these peoples day to day lives we all know it's all made up but it does have that car crash factor about it and it makes me chuckle occasionally.
